America’s Game, Philadelphia’s Honor
Philadelphia Wins Bid to Host Army-Navy Game
In 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022
Today we are proud to report that Philadelphia has won four out of the next five bids to host the Army-Navy Game. In addition to playing host this year, Lincoln Financial Field will also host the 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022 games. We are proud to be the home of America’s Game, just as we have been 86 times since its inception in 1890.
The Army-Navy Game is one of the biggest hospitality weekends of the year for our city, welcoming more than 50,000 fans, generating 30,000 hotel room nights and resulting in an estimated economic impact of more than $30 million. Through the leadership and hard work of PHL Sports, one of our business development divisions, sporting events continue to be a major opportunity for Philadelphia, delivering both economic benefits and national media exposure.
We’d like to thank our partners who helped to make this bid phase successful, including Mayor Jim Kenney and his team at the City of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, our Army-Navy Host Committee Co-Chairs Ron Naples and Tom Lynch and the team at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Please also join us in congratulating Larry Needle, executive director of PHL Sports, and Brea Webster Stanko, PHL Sports marketing manager, on securing this great economic win for our city.
We are most grateful to the Service Academies for their partnership, and very proud to be home to America’s Game — it is truly Philadelphia’s honor.
